WHHCC Letter on Hunting and Shooting Sports Recruitment and Retention
The WHHCC sent letters to the secretaries of the Department of the Interior and the Department of Agriculture to promote hunting and shooting sports. These letters addressed actions related to access, funding, recruitment and coordination.
Both the NRCS, USFWS and the BLM are providing hunting opportunities for disabled veterans. Evidence for agency action is found in their public outreach. Additionally, the BLM employs a national accessibility coordinator with additional state level accessibility staff.
Wounded veterans program to promote hunting and fishing
The Wounded Warrior Project provides opportunities for recovery through shooting sports and fishing via Project Odyssey. In addition, Operations Injured Soldiers assists wounded veterans to participate in hunting and fishing and Project Healing Waters uses fly fishing as a rehabilitation tool.
